Nadine Lustre Reacts To Jane De leon Chosen as the New Darna

The ABS-CBN management had finally chosen the newest and the freshest face to portray the iconic superheroine role, Darna. She is none other than the Star Magic artist Jane de Leon. She had also been part of the girl group, “Girltrends” in the ABS-CBN’s noontime show It’s Showtime.

A lot of people were amazed that the young actress was given such an amazing break on her career in the show business industry. It was Olivia Lamasan, the managing director of ABS-CBN Films who made the announcement on Wednesday, July 17 about the newest face of the lucky woman who will soon portray as the new Darna.

Recently, Nadine Lustre made rounds in different social media platforms after she gave an honest opinion towards Jane De Leon, on her becoming the new Darna. The other half of the famous love team JaDine honestly revealed that she was very happy for the young actress to finally get her biggest break. Nadine said and she quote in one of her interviews: “I’m really happy na si Jane yung kinuha kasi I’ve seen her a couple of times before, common friends, so it’s nice na siya yung, na siya na yung bagong superhero natin.”

It can also be remembered that Nadine Lustre has been the top choice of the public to portray the iconic role. Many netizens could not help but react on Nadine’s reaction about Jane De Leon. Some netizens were dismayed that Nadine didn’t audition on the said role as the management was looking for the new Darna while she actually has a viral video imitating the iconic line of Darna as Ding gave her the magical stone portrayed by vlogger Donnalyn Bartolome.

Nadine Alexis Paguia Lustre or simply Nadine Lustre is a 25-year-old singer, music video director, actress, model, endorser, host, and dancer. She is also a former member of the all-female group Pop Girls. She portrayed as Georgina Evangelista in the television remake of the 1984 film “Bagets”. But she rose to fame after playing the lead role of Eya Rodriguez in the film adaptation of the popular wattpad novel “Diary ng Panget” in 2014.

Nadine Lustre Tries the Iconic Darna Shout

“Darna” had been a part of every Filipino households for so many years. It is actually a fictional Filipino comic’s superhero that was created by writer Mars Ravelo and artist Nestor Redondo. It was on May 13, 1950, when it had its first appearance in “Pilipino Komiks” by Ace Publications, Inc. Darna’s origin starts when a deceased extraterrestrial warrior had magically manifested through a woman from Earth known as Narda. As Narda swallows the white magical stone and shouts “Darna!” she will immediately transform into a mighty, beautiful, and gorgeous warrior.

She was considered as a Filipino cultural icon, known by her distinctive and iconic costume, a red brassiere with gold stars on it, with a red helmet cap with a ruby, encrusted gold winged medallion on her long curly black hair, gold powerful bracelets, gold medallion belt with a loincloth at the middle and an almost knee-high red boots. As Liza Soberano withdraws on the Darna project, there was a new search for the next actress to portray the role of the iconic heroine. Some of the famous celebrities who expressed their interests towards the role are Pia Wurtzbach, Catriona Gray, Sanya Lopez, Janella Salvador, Yassi Pressman while Angel Locsin, Kathryn Bernardo, Maja Salvador, and Jessy Mendiola commented that the role was not meant for them.

It was just recently when a video of Nadine Lustre went viral on different social media platforms. She made the video in the middle of the search for the next actress to get the Darna project. On the video, she amazed her fans and supporters as she did the famous line of Darna when she transforms from her alter-ego Narda to a mighty, beautiful warrior, Darna. Even the renowned director Erik Matti himself rooted the actress to be the next Darna as he described her being sultry and very Filipina.

Donnalyn Bartolome helped Nadine to spoof the scene. They even used some special effects on the video to make it more convincing. People could not help it but be amazed by her reenactment of Darna’s famous lines. Will she be the next artist to fly as the superheroine Darna?
