Good Bye Eddie Garcia, Veteran Filipino Actor passes away at 90

This afternoon at 4:55, June 20, the Makati Medical Center formally announced the passing of the 90-year-old Veteran actor, Mr. Eddie Garcia, which was posted in their medical bulletin.
It has been all over the news last June 8 about what happened to Mr. Eddie Garcia on having a heart attack during his taping on his new series with the Kapuso GMA Network, some said that it is due to the heat of the day that resulted to his collapsed.

But the real reason behind this incident, is when he tripped and collapsed, that he was not able to support himself leading him to be off balanced, which resulted to damage his spine specifically his C1 and C3 vertebrae. They even reviewed the footage on the CCTV camera, and it was confirmed that it is due to that cable where he tripped.

He was initially brought to Mary Johnston Hospital and later transferred to Makati Medical Center. He was confined in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for some observations and development. Before the family announced his condition, it was reported instantly that he already passed away, but he was actually in the Intensive Care Unit for monitoring.

Just this afternoon, a lot of showbiz personalities expressed their condolences and grief for the loss of one great actor. To quote from his philosophy as an actor way back in 2012, “Do it well, no matter how small.” This no doubt gives us the idea why he would always play his role on any films or series outstandingly.

Family of Eddie Garcia Releases Statement Regarding The Actor's Condition

Eduardo Verchez García, professionally known as Eddie Garcia is a 90-year-old film actor and film director. He actually had over 300 films as of 2011, he has also appeared in the most number of Philippine movies. He is the only individual who was inducted in three categories in the FAMAS Hall of Fame: Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Director.

He was born to Antonio García and Vicenta Verchez on May 2, 1929, in Sorsogon, Sorsogon. He spent his early life in the municipality of Juban. The award-winning actor served with the Philippine Scouts right after World War II and was stationed as a military policeman in Okinawa, Japan before he joined show business.

Recently, the public was shocked to know that he suffered a neck injury during a shoot of a GMA television series. His partner for 33-years revealed what really happened to the veteran actor.

It was first stated that the veteran actor suffered a heart attack but then it was revealed that it was a neck injury. The veteran actor remained comatose in Makati Medical Center’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Recently, the public was shocked to know the news about the veteran actor Mr. Eddie Garcia was on the Intensive Care Unit after he collapsed on the set of a teleserye he was shooting last June 8, 2019.y

The GMA network had released a statement about the incident stating that they would be reviewing the recorded video of the incident. Award-winning actor Philip Salvador had shared online what really happened with Mr. Eddie Garcia on the set through the social media account of Robin Padilla.

On the viral video, the actor revealed that Mr. Eddie Garcia didn’t have a heart attack but he had actually stepped on cable wire and that causes him to collapsed and lost his consciousness. This was the quoted statement of Philip Salvador towards the incident.
“Balitaan niyo inatake daw si EG, si Eddie Garcia. Dun po sa lahat ng mga fans niya, sa mga followers niya, hindi po siya inatake. Mahusay po at matibay ang puso ni Eddie Garcia. Nadisgrasya po siya, naaksidente po siya. Sumabit po ang paa niya sa cable. Siya po ay 90 years old so hindi po siya nakabalanse. “Bumagsak po siya at hindi po maganda ang kanyang pagbagsak. Hindi po siya inatake kagaya ng inyong mga narinig. Bilib po kami kay Eddie Garcia dahil ayaw ho niya magpa-double, nobenta anyos na ho siya. Hinihiling po namin sa inyo ngayon, dasal para sa ating isa pang hari ng pelikulang Pilipino na si Eddie Garcia.”

The said television series was entitled “Rosang Agimat”, the 90-year-old veteran actor had revealed in one of his interviews before that he will never retire until there are still people who want him to perform and who still wanted him to showcase his talents even at 90-years-old.

He is still under critical observation and all his doctors are doing their best to assure that he gets the best care,” stated by one of his relatives yesterday, where they believed it was due to this heart attack that caused his condition.

This Sunday morning, June 9, the GMA Network Inc. Management issued their official statement regarding the video caught during the incident.

"The video of Mr. Eddie Garcia faltering in his steps and eventually collapsing has reached GMA. We are seriously reviewing the said video as well as other videos of the same scene which our cameras also took before we make any conclusions on what really transpired."

Mr. Eddie Garcia’s stepson, Nick mentioned that they will immediately issue a formal update about Mr. Garcia’s condition, and they are asking the public to say a prayer for his quick recovery.

Family of Eddie Garcia confirmed the news and releases a statement and update about Eddie Garcia's condition " Our family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to all those who have expressed concerns and extended prayers.Please continue praying for Tito Eddie's fast recovery . . . Eddie Garcia is a 90-year-old veteran actor. He was never been out of showbiz limelight since entering it on 1949. He is currently the most nominated and the most awarded actor in FAMAS history.  There is no doubt that Eddie Garcia is one of the best Filipino actors of our time.
