The ABS-CBN management had finally chosen the newest and the freshest face to portray the iconic superheroine role, Darna. She is none other than the Star Magic artist Jane de Leon. She had also been part of the girl group, “Girltrends” in the ABS-CBN’s noontime show It’s Showtime.

A lot of people were amazed that the young actress was given such an amazing break on her career in the show business industry. It was Olivia Lamasan, the managing director of ABS-CBN Films who made the announcement on Wednesday, July 17 about the newest face of the lucky woman who will soon portray as the new Darna.

Recently, Nadine Lustre made rounds in different social media platforms after she gave an honest opinion towards Jane De Leon, on her becoming the new Darna. The other half of the famous love team JaDine honestly revealed that she was very happy for the young actress to finally get her biggest break. Nadine said and she quote in one of her interviews: “I’m really happy na si Jane yung kinuha kasi I’ve seen her a couple of times before, common friends, so it’s nice na siya yung, na siya na yung bagong superhero natin.”

It can also be remembered that Nadine Lustre has been the top choice of the public to portray the iconic role. Many netizens could not help but react on Nadine’s reaction about Jane De Leon. Some netizens were dismayed that Nadine didn’t audition on the said role as the management was looking for the new Darna while she actually has a viral video imitating the iconic line of Darna as Ding gave her the magical stone portrayed by vlogger Donnalyn Bartolome.

Nadine Alexis Paguia Lustre or simply Nadine Lustre is a 25-year-old singer, music video director, actress, model, endorser, host, and dancer. She is also a former member of the all-female group Pop Girls. She portrayed as Georgina Evangelista in the television remake of the 1984 film “Bagets”. But she rose to fame after playing the lead role of Eya Rodriguez in the film adaptation of the popular wattpad novel “Diary ng Panget” in 2014.

Darna is a fictional Filipino comics superhero created by writer Mars Ravelo and artist Nestor Redondo admired and loved by many Filipinos. The character's first appearance was in Pilipino Komiks on May 13, 1950. Darna is a retooling of Ravelo's earlier character, Varga, whose stories he wrote and illustrated himself.

After the emotional withdrawal of Kapamilya actress Liza Soberano on the Darna project, many people were saddened especially a lot of her fans and supporters that she can no longer portray the iconic superheroine because of her injured finger which even until now is under treatment. As a matter of fact, Liza is undergoing some therapy and operation for her fractured finger.

Recently, it was announced online about the Star Magic artist Jane de Leon being the new face of Darna. A lot of people were surprised to know that the 20-year-old young actress was the one chosen by the filmmakers and the management to portray such a big role. Jane de Leon was a former member of the girl group “Girltrends” of It’s Showtime. She was known as Lauren in the 2017 hit television series entitled “La Luna Sangre”. She recently starred in the popular television series “Halik” as Maggie Bartolome, the younger sister of actor Jericho Rosales portraying the character of Lino Bartolome.

She can no longer have a strong grip and even use her finger the way it was before. She posted a message on her social media account saying, “Maraming maraming salamat po sa tiwala!Pangako po na pagtratrabahuhan ko po ito at ibibigay ko ang lahat.” The 20-year-old actress was dubbed as a newcomer by many critics but Olivia Lamasan stated that she and the other filmmakers saw something special and interesting about her, her innocence and strong personality.
